Brokeback Diplomacy

20 01 2006

Germany never has learned well from history. They apparantly believe diplomacy will solve the rising danger in Iran.

Excerpt: “Germany’s foreign minister said in comments broadcast Thursday that European efforts to refer Iran to the U.N. Security Council did not mean abandoning attempts to reach a diplomatic solution. Russia and China, which have veto power on the council, appeared to remain the greatest obstacles. Both nations are opposed to sanctioning a country with which they have strong economic and strategic ties. In recent days, they have expressed reluctance even to the idea of referral.

Diplomacy with terrorists should last about as long as it takes President Bush to sneeze. If no new progress has been made, take proactive courses. There is no reason that Iran should not have to subject their nuclear program, civilian or not, to the same standards everyone else does.
