Hillary Joins Kerry for Alito Filibuster

Hat Tip: Stop The ACLU

I guess she does not care. There isn’t enough Democrat support for a filibuster of Judge Alito, but Senator Clinton and a few others wish to make a statement anyway.

Excerpt: “With three Democratic senators pledging support for Alito, the New Jersey conservative seems virtually assured of being confirmed by the full Senate. “History will show that Judge Alito’s nomination is the tipping point against constitutionally-based freedoms and protections we cherish as individuals and as a nation,” Clinton wrote in a statement during a fundraising stop in Seattle.” Her move seems to put her at odds with New York’s senior senator, Charles Schumer, who spent last week privately arguing that a filibuster would damage Democrats’ chances of taking back the Senate this year, according to party sources.”

Many Democrats are realizing that if they are going to challenge Republicans in the Senate and the White House in 2008, they will have to come back to the center. Kerry, Hilliary, and Kennedy would rather push the party further to the left, causing a party split.

But with Kerry and Clinton both considering Presidential bids in 2008, they cannot afford NOT to make the statement. Hopefully, this statement will cost them more they anticipate. They should be labeled as selfish, non-team players, sacrificing their party’s chances for personal agenda’s.

I fully support hillary and teddy in their desire to push the democratic party as far to the left as possible. The further left they can go the faster the dems will be forced to reform.
