NBC has reportedly decided not to broadcast footage Madonna as she performs a concert while hanging from a mirrored cross and wearing a crown of thorns this November.

It seems that creative differences over a controversial crucifixion scene in Madonna’s current tour could spell the end for NBC’s long-planned special on her concert.

NBC programming officials are expected to ask Madonna’s camp to cut the scene in which she’s hung on a cross wearing a crown of thorns while singing “Live to Tell.

Jerry Falwell writes:

Madonna, in the meantime, is defending the segment as a sincere depiction of faith, which is quite preposterous.

AP reported her as saying the performance is her “plea to the audience to encourage mankind to help one another and to see the world as a unified whole. I believe in my heart that if Jesus were alive today he would be doing the same thing.”

Of course, Jesus IS alive today, Madonna. The very essence of Jesus’ ministry
was his conquering of death, providing an avenue to heaven for all, through Him.

NBC Entertainment chief Kevin Reilly had earlier commented on the “Live to Tell” performance, saying, “We viewed it and didn’t see it as being inappropriate.”

Of course not. In this era when Christianity and Christians can be routinely slammed with impunity, why should we expect a network official to watch such a performance and see anything immoral?

In this post-modern era, Jesus Christ’s message of Him being the ONLY way to heaven has been bumped by humanist notions of diversity, tolerance, and multi-culteralism. The issue of diversity when it comes to portrayals of Jesus is that none are ever truly accurate or positive. Conclusion: It’s not diverse when you don’t include all worldviews of Jesus Christ.

In January, NBC angered Christians with its now cancelled show, Book of Daniel. I applaud the network for their determination to delete the scene from the show. I only wish Madonna could see how her work is not faith, but slandering and hypocritical.
