A Demand for John Kerry to Resign

UPDATE: 11/3, 7:00 pm – John Kerry.com defends his comments! Scroll for outrage!

John Kerry has not apologized. I don’t care how you spin it, he has not apologized:

As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.

I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.

What he called an apology was basically saying, “I’m sorry you heard that wrong. That is not apologizing. What he did say is that he is sorry every conservative is so stupid, they couldn’t get his “botched” joke. The reason we know Mr. Kerry thinks this way is the next sentence:

It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy. I don’t want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops.

You can’t drag the Republican Party into the phrase, “You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.” You can’t insert the word, “us” in between ‘get’ and ‘stuck’ and everyone all of a sudden undertand that you are slamming Bush’s War in Iraq and it has nothing to do with the education of our youth, despite the fact that you are speaking at a college. Allow me to start you off, “What I said was wrong. I apologize for saying it. . .” Anything less is just another flip flop excuse.

But why apologize? I applaud you, Mr. Kerry, for finally being able to tell us where you and nearly every other Democrat stand. Why do you think no other Democrats have even mentioned the War in Iraq? You finally did what you should have done in 2004 and just share your heart. Your heart is evil, but now the entire country knows that.

I would like to demand that Senator Kerry resign his position. No (real) apology required. Just resign. You have offended thousands of military personnel and family as well as most Americans, including a large part of your own party. Step down.

On what grounds? The education comment cannot be spun, in any way, to be interpreted as criticism of President Bush’s handling of the War in Iraq. It was an obvious and direct slander aimed solely at the men and women in uniform fighting for our freedom. Step down.

Several years ago Trent Lott was pressured to resign his post after he “botched” a racial joke. Well, Mr. Kerry, a botched military joke is not a racial class, but they are people. America does not exist on two levels of Elitist and Peasant. The only true success you have accomplished is how to marry rich women. Beyond that, nothing. Step down.

The RNC produced this video:

Step down. And the troops have really taken to your comments, too:

Step down.

UPDATE: 11/3, 7:00 pm – johnkerry.com has a link (cached page here) to the following Seattle Post-Intelligencer editorial?

“Education” Kerry said “– if you make the most of it and you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

Was Kerry making fun of the president, or warning students against the pitfalls awaiting the undereducated in general?

It doesn’t matter. Kerry was right either way.

Allah: “That’s posted right now on John Kerry’s website. It goes on to slam Bush and defend Kerry’s crass remark. And just like Kerry and his other defenders, it’s wrong on the facts.”

Anyone that truly wanted to apologize for making smearing comments would not have links endorsing the accused smear on their own website.
