Gasing up to Cut ‘n Run

Democrats are wasting no time in getting into the fetal position and inserting the thumb into the mouth for some good ‘ole fashioned American surrender planning.

Nancy Pelosi is now endorsing John Murtha for House Majority Leader (thanks, Phil) . . .

“Your strong voice for national security, the war on terror and Iraq provides genuine leadership for our party, and I count on you to continue to lead on these vital issues,” Pelosi wrote Murtha Sunday in a letter obtained by The Hill. “For this and for all you have done for Democrats in the past and especially this last year, I am pleased to support your candidacy for majority leader for the 110th Congress.”…

“Nancy told me some time ago that she would personally support Jack. I respect her decision as the two are very close,” Hoyer said in a statement. “I am grateful for the support I have from my colleagues, and have the majority of the caucus supporting me. I look forward to working with Speaker Pelosi as Majority Leader.”…

One Democrat supporting Hoyer, who asked to remain anonymous, said the letter signaled desperation in the Murtha camp.“It appears to me that Murtha had to pull Nancy forward because he was behind in votes,” the Democrat said. “This is not a surprise he was very important to her. But it’s a secret ballot and Steny has a lot of diverse support.”

. . . because we aren’t really at war and Iraq has nothing to do with the threat of terrorism.

Hot Air:

What better way to assuage fears about Democrats being too dovish and anti-military than to back America’s foremost spokesman for cut and run — who once famously pronounced Haditha a case of murder “in cold blood” while the investigation was still ongoing?

Jay Stephenson:

Anyone still hoping for bi-partisanship on things from the Democrats?

Wizbang:

Can you say House Majority Leader Murtha? Well, you better start practicing.

Michelle Malkin:

They can’t be serious, can they? Oh, yes they are.

Captain Ed:

The power of earmarks to distort American politics raises its ugly head once more, and voters who somehow thought they elected a cleaner government will understand that they put porkers in charge of the trough once again.

Why not select someone who represents the centrists that gave Democrats the majority rather than the Bay area liberals that Pelosi represents?

It’s smart to ask questions that you already know the answer to, especially in my industry, sales. But I would think conservatives know the answer to Captain Ed’s question. That is, because Democrats are quickly turning America into a vote-exchange. They’ve conned many blacks into changing parties in exchange for government programs such as affirmative action. Open-border Democrats don’t see anything for America with immigration beyond a large voting block of naive foreigners entering our nation illegally. And now, they’ve managed to dupe slightly more than half the country into believing they run the country better.

They may have a few temporary successes, but selfishness and greed will catch up to them. So why not elect a centrist? Why not just hand power back to Republicans, that’s why. Democrats would rather put the devil himself in power because he combats conservative values on a daily basis just as Democrats do.

Today’s Vent takes a superhero look at Murtha.
CREW blasts Pelosi.
