A controversial Christian televangelist who is known for his raucous elucidation of Islam had his TV gig pulled after Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) pressured the network.
Earlier this month, officials from the Council on American Islamic Relations wrote a letter to the TV station’s owners asking for an investigation of the show it broadcasts, “Live Prayer with Bill Keller.”
In a May 2 broadcast, the televangelist said Islam was a “1,400-year-old lie from the pits of hell” and called the Prophet Mohammed a “murdering pedophile.” He also called the Koran a “book of fables and a book of lies.”
Keller said his “Bible-based” message hasn’t changed in the five years the program has aired. “(CAIR) intimidated the folks in New York, and the folks in New York caved in,” Keller said.
While I don’t condone Keller’s delivery or message specifics, he should have a right to voice his opinion. Looks like he’s already found another station.
Keller said he is starting a new morning TV show on another Tampa Bay area station that will debut Sept. 3.
Here is Ahmad Bedier, Tampa Bay CAIR Executive Director, and his YouTube charge of Keller:
Bedier wrote the following in a letter to CBS and WTOG:
While we strongly support freedom of speech and religion, the public airwaves should not be used to promote hatred and bigotry. We commend WTOG-TV and CBS for rejecting any association with those who would demonize a minority group.
No one has more on CAIR and their pro-jihad, anti-American stance than Michelle Malkin.
When Islam takes priority over freedom of speech, much less our Christianity-laden heritage, we know are regressing in progress and eroding rights. Fear of backlash and negative public image as a result of an encounter with CAIR has paralyzed too many Americans and the repercussion is a confiscation of God-given rights for Americans.
