Hillary Clinton’s comment on Thursday that a terrorist attack before the ’08 election will help Republicans was criticized yesterday by her fellow Democrats.
“It’s a horrible prospect to ask yourself ‘What if? What if?’ But
if certain things happen between now and the election, particularly
with respect to terrorism, that will automatically give the
Republicans an advantage again, no matter how badly they have
mishandled it, no matter how much more dangerous they have made the
world,” she said. “So I think I’m the best of the Democrats to
deal with that as well.”
Rivals took strong issue with her on Friday.
Talking with reporters in Wolfeboro, former North Carolina Sen.
John Edwards said he would focus on keeping America safe — not
scoring political points.
Likewise, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson said in a statement,
“We shouldn’t be thinking about terrorism in terms of its domestic
political consequences, we should be protecting the country from
Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd said in his own statement,
“Frankly, I find it tasteless to discuss political implications

In a response to the criticism, Clinton campaign spokeswoman
Kathleen Strand said Friday night, “Senator Clinton was making
clear that she has the strength and experience to keep the country
All of these responses, including Hillary’s own comment reveal one, very clear ambition of Democrats: Power comes before protection. Ever since the days immediately following 9/11 when Congress sang on the steps of Capitol Hill, Democrats have been obsessed with bringing harm to the Bush administration. Dismissing the safety of Americans, they have, among other things, criticized a war they also voted for, worked to stop our flow of information, and emboldened the enemy by declaring the war lost, all of which help jihadists, not Americans.
If they feel the war was handled so badly, why did they vote for it? They are equally responsible as Republicans for the situation we find ourselves in now, six years removed from 9/11. Hillary’s hindsight drumbeat doesn’t cut it here. Bush has a hindsight drum too, but you don’t see him playing it. We take our licks, learn, and move forward, dragging the Democrat anchor with us.
Hillary Clinton has zero experience in protecting our country. I don’t know where Strand made that lie up. Neither does she have the fortitude to navigate us through a terrorist attack or avoid one. She’s just spent the last seven years helping them prepare. She is quite skilled in the art of political sabotage and terrorist invigorating.
